Graco SnugRider Overall Rating: 9.3 / 10
Already have a car seat? Or maybe a travel system that’s too bulky to take with you everywhere, and that won’t fit in the trunk of your car? Then a stroller frame is what you need. If you’re an owner of a Graco SnugRide or a Graco Infant SafeSeat car seat, you won’t find a better stroller frame for them. It beats the competition when it comes to safety and ease of use.
And we really liked the price! You can get a Graco SnugRider for $59 on Amazon.
Graco SnugRider Analysis:
The Handle:
The Graco SnugRider has a height adjustable handle. You just press the two buttons on each side of the handle, and set it at the most comfortable position. There’s a button in the middle of SnugRider’s handle. To fold the stroller, you have to push this button with your thumb, then rotate that part of the handle forwards. It’s secure, so don’t worry about accidentally folding it.
The Frame:
Made of Aluminum, Graco SnugRider is really light. It weighs 12 lbs only. But it feels sturdy, so unless you’ll make a hobby out of kicking it every few minutes, it’s going to last. It’ll last not only till your infant is too big to sit in a car seat, but it’ll serve a couple more babies, whether they’re yours or your friends’.
The Car Seat:
Not included with the SnugRider, the car seat is of course purchased separately. Graco SnugRider accepts Graco SnugRide, SnugRide 32 and Infant SafeSeat car seats. You’re not out of luck if you have a non-Graco car seat. It might be compatible with the Graco SnugRider. So ask around, and try to contact your car seat’s manufacturer and ask them about it.
Attaching the car seat to the SnugRider is simple, yet completely safe. If you have a hyperactive toddler in the house, he/she won’t be able to unlock the car seat from the frame. It’s all explained really well (with illustrations) in Graco SnugRider’s manual.
The Wheels and Brakes:
The SnugRider stroller has lockable swivel front wheels. You can apply the brakes to the rear wheels with your foot. You can also release them as easily. The wheels are made of solid rubber, so no flats!
Neither the front nor the rear wheels have suspensions. Although Graco SnugRider is comfortable enough without them, you’ll still have to pay attention where you ride.
Graco SnugRider Miscellaneous Notes:
Assembling this stroller is really easy and takes minutes. No tools are required for the job. This, too, is explained in the SnugRider’s manual. Thanks for the great manuals, Graco!
The stroller folds in a jiffy. Before folding it, remove the car seat and lock the wheels. Like explained above, a button on the SnugRider’s handle should be pushed, then the handle rotated forwards. While folded you can store the stroller in a vertical position (see photo).
Graco SnugRider’s storage basket is huge. You can put a jumbo diapers pack there and still have plenty of space for other stuff. More importantly, all of it is accessible with a car seat attached.
What we didn’t like is the really small size of the parent cup holders. Graco made them especially for really small cups!
